Kris’s passion for photography was ignited at a young age, deeply inspired by his father, John. As a child and teen, he would follow his father with a camera in hand, capturing moments during family vacations and special events. This early fascination with photography laid the foundation for his future career. Kris went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Italian from Merrimack College, where he also took numerous photography courses. These classes taught him the art of black-and-white photography, including developing negatives and printing photos, giving him a strong foundation in film photography that seamlessly transitioned into the digital age.

Throughout his career as a professional photographer, Kris has captured countless weddings and portrait sessions, as well as high-profile events like Frozen Fenway for the Boston Red Sox and the 4th of July Spectacular, featuring performances by the Dropkick Murphys, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Jennifer Hudson, and the Boston Pops Orchestra. His work has graced the cover of New England Bride and other local publications.

In recent years, Kris has expanded his portfolio into the Fine Art genre. His work has been featured in local businesses, and he has published a couple of books showcasing various projects, with another currently in the works.

"I have a unique style," Kris explains. "I begin with traditional posing and then transition into journalistic and contemporary approaches. I’m always studying lighting and posing. While photojournalism is about capturing moments and expressions as they happen, I offer gentle guidance to my clients to bring out their most expressive and authentic reactions."

John Ventresco has devoted his entire life to the art of photography. His journey began in high school, where he discovered a passion for capturing moments through a lens. This passion led him to attend the Franklin Pierce Institute of Photography in Boston, where he honed his skills and apprenticed under an experienced photographer. As his talent and enthusiasm for photography grew, so did his dedication to the craft.

In 1982, John and his wife Yvonne founded Starlight Photography, transforming their shared passion into a thriving photography gallery. Specializing in social events like weddings, portraiture, and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Starlight Photography has become a well-known name in the industry.

When asked how he maintains his love for photography after all these years, John explains, "I've learned to see the beauty in everything around me—whether it’s people, nature, or the world’s surroundings."

People often ask John what makes his images so unique and special. His answer is simple: "I capture from the heart. It’s never just another job. To be able to see what your heart feels and capture it with a camera is the greatest feeling. Being a professional photographer is a unique profession that allows me to see the beauty around me and preserve it through the lens for others to enjoy and pass down through generations."

John has had the privilege of studying with some of the world’s finest photographic artists and masters, including Louise and Joseph Simone of Canada and the Tuscan region of Italy. His dedication to the craft has earned him numerous accolades, including recognition in local, national, and international competitions. Among his many achievements is his acceptance into the prestigious Professional Photographers of America's Traveling Loan Collection.
